July 15, 2012
Coutts, Alberta, CA

Well as you see we made it here !  One funny mishap prior to our leaving camp in Billings, MT.....We shut all the slides and got ready to leave and Rick realized he was still wearing his lounge pants.  I said it was ok but he said no as he new I don't like them out and around.  So with all the slides closed he went in and reached in the bedroom and came up with a pair of MY jeans.  Well you can just guess what they looked like on him...ha ha  Drive north in Montana was uneventful.  We saw lots of hills with steep grades up and down.  There were numerous windmills in lots of the open spaces.  Montana is definetly BIG SKY country.  We just put ole Bessie on cruise control and let her do the work.  Just before we crossed the boarder we stopped and got gas, much to our surprise, the wind was blowing so hard that in Florida we would have thought it was a hurricane.

July 14, 2012
Billings, Montana

Sorry I haven't gotten to write in the last few days, but had no phone service or wifi connections !!  Boy was I having withdrawals !!  Just to bring you up to date:  7-12-12  Got into Rapid City, SD  Campground site was horribly unlevel, but we were only going to be there to sleep so, off we went to Sturgis, SD.  Bikers will swamp this town in about two weeks...Did not go to the Full Throttle Saloon though.....7-13-12 arose around five to go to Fort Hayes. Fort Hayes is the movie set for Dances with Wolfs.  We had breakfast on tin plates and drank from tin cups.  At 8:50 we boarded a tour bus ( Stagecoach Tours) and made a tour of the Black Hills that included Mt. Rushmore, Iron Mountain Road, Custer State Park, lunch at the State Game Lodge also toured the Needles Highway, and Crazy Horse Mountain and Memorial.  Returned to Fort Hayes around 5:30 where we were served dinner on tin plates again, and then was entertained by a country western band, with some comedy characters throwed in.  Wow what a day it was......I highly recommend this tour if anyone ever comes out this way.  This huge bus had to pass through four one vehicle tunnels...let me just say...it was a tight squeeze !!!  Lots of road construction up this way. Today we have been in South Dakota, Wyoming, and now Montana !! If you don't hear from me you know we are somewhere without wifi.  Pictures are taking to long to load with the wifi so will post them at a later date.  Tomorrow we should reach the border and go into Canada.  Hope all is well with everyone.  Till the next time....

July 11, 2012
Mitchell, SD

Traveled over 400 miles today.  The scenery all along the way was cornfield after cornfield.  Most of the trip was like in a valley with mountain ridges off in the distance.  Lots of breeze.  Alan Jackson's tour bus passed us...wonder where he was going.  Stopped at the South Dakota welcome center and got lots of booklets for the black hills and mount rushmore and other sites around Rapid City.  For anyone preparing to go on a trip, the book "Next Exit" is a must !!!  A wealth of information as to what is at each exit on the interstates.   Until then.....  P.S.  no phone service here.

July 10, 2012
Platte City, MO

Such a lovely drive up and over from Illinois.  Miles and miles of farmland and rolling hills.  Cornfield after cornfield !!  We seem to be getting into a better routine about breaking down and setting up camp.  Still have a few kinks to work out, but overall getting better.  Rick does outside while I secure (at least try) the inside.  The roads leave alot to be desired here and when we get to the campsite and open up....well lets just say things bounce around quite a bit.  Tonight the sofa was out from the wall about a foot.  Pulled in today and leveled up and went to plug into electric, but alas, the cord was like three to four feet to short.  Had to unblock and hook up trailer again and pull forward a little.  Now we know what to look for before we unhook !!!  Trials and tribulations go a long way.  We are just north of Kansas City, MO.  We have over four hundred miles to travel tomorrow, so if you see no blog you will know why.  Take care all and have a blessed day !!

July 9, 2012
Whittington, Ill

This is how we roll !!

Oh what a glorious day.  After being on the road for three days I finally found my camera cord to hook up to the computer.  Now I will be taking some pictures along the way.  This has been such beautiful countryside.  Tennessee and Kentucky are both beautiful with their rolling hills and mountain sides.  We did not stop in Puducah, Ky as planned but instead drove a little further so we will not have so far to go on Tuesday, July, 10th.  All take care......

July 8, 2012  Smyrna,  Tn

Had a good day driving up from Atlanta.  The highlight of the day was going to Spring Hill and visiting with the Butler family !!  Danny and Tabitha have three biological children, one they are adopting, and one they are hosting for the summer, guess you could say:  and then there were five !!  We had a nice visit and the whole crew went out to Grace's favorite place for dinner....Logan's !!  Went to get gas but no diesel, so had to start back low on fuel.  Repeat of the other day....couldn't find anything open this time, as it was after 10:00, daylight saving time.  When we finally connected with the interstate we found a station OPEN that had gas....thank God, as we were on fumes !! Anyway, alls well that ends well.  On we go ...... Will post a family photo as soon as I can learn how to post from my email...adios!

July 7. 2012  McDonouugh, GA
As you can see, we left a day earlier than anticipated.  What a day it has been.  We were in need of gas, nearly empty, when we saw a Flying J sign for gas.  We exited the interstate and followed signs to where it was suppose to be (.6 miles).  We ended up going over two miles on a little two lane country road.  Found a church way back off the road to try and turn around in, but alas, no driving on the grass they said.  So we follow a very, very, narrow drive to the back of the property and make a circle with the drive.  It was one tight squeeze to get around it with this long rig !!!  Managed that and got back on road only for the "low on fuel" ding to go off !!  Found other stations the other way but first one would not take my credit card, still low on fuel !!  Made it to the second one and went straight in the big rig lanes.  GOT GAS !!!  Good thing too, because about ten miles down the road traffic was dead stopped on the interstate.  Stop and go for over twenty miles.  We got off and am now at the South Atlanta RV Resort campground.  Enough for us for one day....And how was your day ?  Trucker 2
